Overview
MH Tiling is Mark Holt, a tiler based in Exeter who works all over Devon. Bathrooms, wet rooms, floors, kitchens and natural stone, plus the large-format porcelain slabs few tilers in the county will take on. Charged Studio designed and built the website.
The brief
Tiling is judged on detail: straight lines, clean cuts, and where the grout joints land. The site had to show that detail up close, make the specialist work impossible to miss, and make asking for a quote as easy as sending a few photos from a phone.
What we built
The rare work goes first
Mark is one of only a handful of tilers in Devon fitting porcelain slabs up to 2.8 × 1.2 m. That leads the services list, above the bathrooms and floors everyone else offers.
A page for each showcase job
A black and gold marble ensuite, a pink herringbone shower and a slate wet room each get a page: the room, the tiles, the finish, and why the detail matters.
Quotes from a few photos
The form asks for a postcode and the type of job, and a WhatsApp link opens with the message already written. Send photos and rough sizes, get a fixed quote within 48 hours.
Work captioned by town
Recent jobs are labelled with where they were done, Exeter, Topsham, Totnes, Exmouth, Plymouth, and an areas section lists the towns he covers across Devon.
Set up to be found
Local business schema, a unique title and description on every page, and an image sitemap that lists every project photograph so they can turn up in image search.
Straight answers
Is he insured? Does he take small jobs? Is the person who quotes the person who tiles? The questions homeowners actually ask, answered on the page.
Three showcase jobs on the homepage, each with a page of its own.
The ensuite page: mitred edges round the window reveal, explained in plain words.
The design approach
The hero is drawn from the trade itself: a field of outlined tiles behind a tall, condensed headline, set as straight as the work. Below it the page turns to a warm stone colour, so Mark's own photographs of finished rooms read close to how they look in person. Nothing decorative competes with the tiling.
Outcome
MH Tiling has a website that shows what sets the work apart, the large-format slabs and the finishing, rather than a list of what every tiler offers. A homeowner in Devon can see the detail, check he covers their town, and send photos for a fixed quote without leaving their phone.
