Missed enquiry calculator
Every business loses some enquiries: the call that went to voicemail, the message answered a day too late, the form nobody saw. Put in your own numbers and see what that adds up to over a month and a year.

Where enquiries usually go missing
- Calls during the working day. You are up a ladder, under a sink or with a customer, and the phone rings out. Plenty of people will not leave a voicemail. They ring the next name on the list.
- Slow replies. Someone who needs a job doing usually contacts two or three businesses at once. The one that replies first is often the one that gets it, whatever the others would have quoted.
- Evenings and weekends. A lot of people only have time to sort things out after work. If the only way in is a phone call during office hours, they wait, and then they forget.
- A website that does not make it easy. No form, a form that quietly fails, a phone number hidden in the footer, or no idea what happens after you get in touch. Those visitors leave without ever showing up in your numbers.
Getting some of it back
You do not need to answer every call to fix most of this. You need a second way in that works when you cannot pick up, and a promise about when you will reply. A short enquiry form with a clear reply time catches the people who would never leave a voicemail. Online booking catches the ones who want to sort it at ten at night. And a website that says plainly what happens next stops people giving up halfway.
That is most of what our websites are built to do: turn the people who find you into enquiries you actually receive.
Common questions
How accurate is this? As accurate as the three numbers you put in, and no more. It is simple multiplication, shown in full under the answer, so you can see exactly how it got there. The useful part is usually not the exact figure but the size of it.
Why revenue and not profit? Because only you know your margins. The figure is what those jobs would have been invoiced at. If you know your typical margin, apply it to the yearly figure and you have the profit you are missing.
What counts as a missed enquiry? Anyone who tried to get in touch and did not end up talking to you in time: the call that went to voicemail and never rang back, the message answered two days later, the form that went to an inbox nobody checks, the visitor who could not work out how to contact you at all.
How do I know how many I miss? Most phones show missed calls, and most website and social inboxes show unanswered messages. Count them for one normal week. For people who gave up on your website without contacting you, there is no count, which is why the honest number is usually higher than the one you put in.
